In Person "Sweater Swap Meet"?
I have been debating this idea for a while, but it will never go anywhere without the participation of others, so I need to see what everyone else thinks?
What about the idea of picking a location, getting a hotel event/meeting room, and everyone getting together in person to buy/sell/trade knitwear items? This could also work well for a social event and allow many like minded people to meet and talk in person.
Being from the US, I would be willing to head up an event like this in the US. I am not sure how many others from outside the US would be willing to travel, or if someone in Europe may also want to head up an event there?
I am thinking about:
- A central location in the US, that has an airport with multiple carriers and regular flights
- Sometime in the winter months, possibly in January
That being my thoughts, please provide your thoughts on:
- Would you attend an event like this?
- What are the top 2-3 US cities you would be willing to travel to?
- What are the top 1-2 months that you would prefer for the event to be in?
- How many days would you like to spend at an event like this?
- Would you be attending to buy items, sell items, or both?
- Would you be willing to pay a small fee to have a public space to sell or trade items?
- How much would you be willing to pay per night for a hotel room?
Please provide any additional feedback that you think would be important in planning an event like this?
I am personally done with trying to buy and sell items online for many reasons, and I think that it would benefit everyone greatly if we could get a group together in person.

Sorry LM, an interesting idea but I have all the knitwear I need, I prefer to socialize digitally, and the prospect of making up a story to tell my wife why I'm going out of town gives me a headache. That said, good luck!
