I took her to a nearby deli for a bite to eat. She had a voracious appetite and ate everything in sight. To my surprise, she ate a jumbo hotdog (horizontally!) after polishing off a huge Italian sub. Then there was that enormous pickle…

All that deli food made us sleepy. We checked into a budge hotel for a nap.

“I need more sweaters!” she exclaimed. We went to the mall. She sat on Santa’s lap and told him about all the fuzzy sweaters she wanted. “Santa,” it turned out, is a major wool freak. The two bonded over their shared passion for fuzzy knitwear while discussing their favorite types of knitted cardigans and pullovers. Finally, he whipped out a wad of cash. “Your wish is granted!” he said. “Buy all the sweaters ye desire and be merry, ho ho ho!” She began her shopping spree.

She bought a huge haul of sweaters with Santa’s wad of cash. The retail staff laughed as she unloaded absurdly large piles of sweaters on the checkout counter. Then they applauded her: She assured their holiday bonuses! I took her back to the Econo Lodge, where she modeled all the sweaters for me.
