off topic - flash player

I clicked on the youtube videos and had a message saying either my java is switched off or I havent got the lastest flash player installed. I went to the flash player site downloaded the latest and was told i already had it. I went into internet options advanced tab to make sure everything was checked of and it was. Does anybody why this is happening and what I need to do to correct this problem. thanks jodie xxxx
