A reminder...

Just a reminder that your site will change slightly tomorrow. Just come on as usual. Go to our index page, and click on your wool forum, or click on your bookmark to the forum itself, and you will go directly to the new site. I forget the exact time of the change over.

We do ask that you immediately bookmark the new site as soon as you get there. That will save you always having to wait for the automatic "link" to take place. Also, watch for the messages that we will be typing explaining to you how a few things work. They will be on soon after the move.

Once again, the site will be down for a few hours while we make the change.

Again, if you have suggestions for your new area please let us know. Either on the forums, or give a pm to Walter, Joe Al (when he gets back), or myself! If you have ideas on what you would like to see on this site, etc., I am sure that Joe Al and Walter would like to hear them. This is YOUR site and not mine! Once again, this move is finally making you an equal to us on the Den! You will no longer be stuck on the bottom of our site.

The forums (both fur and wool) will be down on Sunday August 24 starting at 17:00 GMT/UTC for up to 3 hours to implement the changeover of the wool/sweater forums to a new board with their own home page.

As has previously been announced, the new Melody O'hair board will be accessible from this board via prominently placed links. I will announce the URL for direct access to the Melody board in a couple of days.

All currently registered members as of the the start of the outage will have access to both the Fur Den and Melody boards via their registered username and password. Re-registration will NOT be needed.

There will also be a short (5 minutes) outage of all applications on this website at some point during the longer forums outage to implement the web server part of the changes.

When I merged The Fur Den with Melody O'Hair several years ago, Melody was a big and attractive site - much bigger than the "new kid on the block." Us "fur freaks" didn't mind that we were listed further down on the index page; we were just happy that we had a bigger and better home. When it became evident that Melody was going to go down, we decided to build our own home, but we wanted to give our good friends the opportunity to move with us. The plan from the beginning was for Melody to eventually get its own site, but there was a great deal of concern that a different web site, totally disassociated with The Fur Den would be confusing (at best!) for Melody's loyal members, so we kept delaying any action to do this. White Fox and I just didn't believe this was fair to all of you. We believed that it was time to bring Melody back to the prominence it once enjoyed, and Joe Al and Walter gave us the go ahead to put our plan into action just a couple of weeks ago. AKcoyote, the Chief Technical Administrator of thefurden.com, found a way to give Melody its new home, while keeping it on the Den's servers, and has been working ever since to make this a reality for you. Thanks to him, the whole problem of disassociation has been completely circumvented. Sunday, it will finally happen! Melody will be in it's new home, and I am sure that all of you will jump in to make Melody O'Hair the kind of home you have always wanted it to be!

I know I speak for everyone at The Fur Den in saying that I am very proud, and very happy for all of you!
